Andrew Robb has announced that a new Australian Technical College will be built in Midland

The Minister for Vocational and Further Education, the Hon. Andrew Robb AO MP, was in WA today to announce that a new Technical College will be built in Midland. The Australian Technical College program is a 2004 Howard Government initiative in response to the greatest mistake ever made in education over the last 20 to 30 years - the closure of dedicated technical schools. These colleges will play an important role in restoring pride and prestige in technical training so that in the future high quality technical education will be as prized as a university degree. After two years of study at the Australian Technical College in Midland students will have obtained a year 12 certificate, be a third of the way through an apprenticeship and will have had industry and workforce experience.
