6/13/2008 - Green Corps Graduation

Alan with Green Corps graduates at
Maniana bushland.

Today I presented graduation certificates to Green Corps participants in Queens Park. Green Corps - Young Australians for the Environment Programme is a youth initiative of the Australian Government.
The programme provides young people with the opportunity to conserve, preserve and restore Australia's natural environment.
The programme contributes to the participant's personal development and team work and leadership skills. It also improves career and employment prospects through accredited training and on-the-project training.
This particular Green Corps project had significant support from the MAAMBA Aboriginal corporation. The project was located at the Maniana bushland and involved revegetation activities, maintenance and installation of fences and gates, establishment of sustainable barriers, access ways and tracks, and the controlling of weeds and planting of native species.
