On Palm Beach Jetty

Today I went to Rockingham to announce Australian Government Regional Partnerships Programme funding of up to $110,000 to upgrade the Palm Beach recreational jetty.
This money will help the City of Rockingham to purchase labour and materials associated with the construction of the new Palm Beach jetty and surrounds.
The Palm Beach jetty was originally constructed for use during World War II and today provides the Rockingham community with an important tourism resource for a range of boating activities.
This project will demolish and rebuild the jetty to provide shade structures, fishing platforms and access to the water for disabled people.
The project will also facilitate its ongoing use as a base for children's vocational swimming lessons, recreational fishing and will provide an improved setting for the World War II Z-Force Memorial.
