Congratulating Rev. John Meagher on St Mary's successful application for funding |
The Coalition Government has gone extra lengths to protect a piece of South Perth history from ruin. The Anglican Church of St Mary the Virgin will receive a $250,000 grant for restoration and conservation works to preserve the structural fabric of the church and protect its heritage values. With its impressive 30 metre tower topped by a statue of Christ, the church is a distinctive landmark visible from many vantage points around South Perth. The building has been in our community for over 70 years and many people were concerned that the church their family had been going to for generations was falling into dissaray.
